There are some positive signals in the domestics industrial output. The updates of total output of major industries from Jan - Aug '09.

The industrial output growth rate in April-2009 has reflected some changes in Vietnam industry. However, it would keep on closed monitoring on their movement in coming months.

The actual industry growth in first quarter 2009 shows some signals of slow-down key industries. Inventory index of processing industry has reach over 67% compared with last year, such as: steel products 2.6 times ., ceramic tiles 55%, apparels 76% higher than stocks in the same period of last year. Many enterprises in Binh Duong, Dong Nai, HCMC did lay-off over 20% workforces.

Ministry of Industry and Trade has just released the annual target of industrial growth in year 2009. Compared with actual growth of year 2008, plus the current situation of world economy (export oriented products), there are some positive factors in planning like output of Paper, Coal, Steels...

The average growth of industrial output is still forecasted over 16% as usual (in which the contribution of private sectors are still expected at high 20.7% and FDI at 18.6%)

Total industry output of year 2007 is 574,047 billion VND (+17.1 % year on year), in which: SOEs + 10.3% year on year and accounts 24% of total country industry output, Non-SOEs +20.9%yoy acc. 36.9%, FIEs +21.3%yoy acc. 39.1%.

Industries have achieved the high growth rate (over target), like: car manufacturing +52.2%, motomobike manufacturing + 19.2%, machine tools +69.8%, transformer + 17%, air-conditioner + 51.9%, washing machine manufacturing +21.3%, electricity fan + 18.6%, electricity +13.2%, steel +10.8%, clean coal +11.5%, cement +11.8%, seafood processing +12.6%, kraft paper +15.3%....
